ASIS Malaysia Chapter Annual General Meeting 2025

The ASIS Malaysia Chapter successfully concluded our 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Co Labs, Starling Mall on February 5th, bringing together committee members, volunteers, and industry peers for an afternoon of reflection, updates, and knowledge sharing. In addition to members who attended in person, we were pleased to have members joining virtually, enabling broader participation and ensuring our community could stay connected regardless of location

Opening & Chairman’s Address

Our Chairman, Chris Chan, opened the session by welcoming members and reaffirming the chapter’s mission to build a strong, collaborative security community in Malaysia. He shared how the chapter continues to create value through professional development, partnerships, and meaningful engagement across the security ecosystem, while encouraging members to stay active and contribute to the growth of the profession.

Chapter & Committee Updates

The AGM then moved into the formal agenda, with committee leads presenting their respective updates:

  • Taqiuddin Ahmad Kendong presented the previous AGM minutes, providing a recap of key decisions and actions taken.

  • Perumal walked members through the 2025 event highlights, showcasing the chapter’s activities, industry collaborations, and member engagements throughout the year.

  • Mary Elizabeth Cheng shared updates on the Women in Security initiatives, highlighting the success of events aimed at empowering and connecting women professionals in the security field.

  • Michael Fong, reported on the performance of the chapter website and LinkedIn page, including improvements in reach, engagement, and digital visibility

  • Vilbert Raj presented the financial report and membership updates, covering the chapter’s healthy financial position, responsible stewardship of resources, and steady membership growth.

We also took the opportunity to welcome Ryan Chin as our newest committee member, further strengthening the team as we move into 2026.

Sponsor Sharing Session – MitKat Advisory

Following the AGM proceedings, members benefited from an insightful knowledge-sharing session by our event sponsor, MitKat Advisory.

Pawan Desai, Co-Founder & CEO, delivered a compelling presentation on “Risk Intelligence as a Business Enabler.”

The session challenged the traditional view of risk as merely a compliance or defensive function and introduced a more strategic perspective — where risk intelligence helps organizations make faster, better-informed decisions.

Key themes included:

  • Moving from raw data to actionable intelligence

  • Shifting from reactive response to foresight and pre-emptive action

  • Integrating platforms and AI to connect insights directly to decisions

  • Enabling safer operations, workforce mobility, and confident business growth

The message was clear: modern organizations that embed real-time monitoring, predictive analysis, and structured response into their workflows gain resilience and competitive advantage, transforming risk management into a business enabler rather than a constraint Risk Intelligence as a Business.

Fireside Chat & Closing

The session concluded with an engaging fireside chat featuring Chris Chan, Taqiuddin, Mitesh Shah and Perumal, where practical experiences and perspectives were shared on how security leaders can align risk management with business objectives in today’s increasingly complex environment.

We extend our sincere appreciation to MitKat Advisory for their sponsorship and partnership, and to all members and volunteers who continue to contribute their time and expertise to the chapter.

As we look ahead to 2026, we remain committed to delivering impactful programs, fostering professional growth, and strengthening the ASIS Malaysia community.

We look forward to another year of collaboration and success together.
