A Behind-the-Scenes Look at Vantage Data Centers in Cyberjaya

Yesterday, ASIS International Malaysia Chapter had the privilege of visiting Vantage Data Centers in Cyberjaya, and it was truly an eye-opening, behind-the-scenes experience that money simply can’t buy.

In today’s digital age, data centers have become the backbone of our connected world — powering everything from cloud computing to e-commerce, streaming, financial services, and beyond. Malaysia has recognized this critical role and has been making heavy investments to position itself as a leading regional hub for data center development. Cyberjaya is at the heart of this growth, and Vantage Data Centers is playing a pivotal role in shaping the country’s digital infrastructure.

After the customary welcome notes, we learned more about Vantage Data Centers, the expansion plans and new developments in the area. The scale of investment and construction underway highlights just how much demand there is for resilient, high-capacity, and secure data center facilities. This growth not only underscores Malaysia’s strategic importance in the global data ecosystem but also reflects the pace at which the industry is evolving.

The group was warmly welcomed by Site Operations Director, Mr. Tan Chee Wee, who not only greeted us personally but also shared his insights on the industry trends driving demand for data centers across Malaysia and the region. His perspectives gave participants a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities ahead. The sharing session concluded with light refreshments, providing the perfect setting for our members to network, mingle, and exchange ideas in a more informal environment.

One of the highlights of the day was the exclusive site tour, where members had the chance to step into areas not typically accessible to the public. We were shown the security operations center, where complex operations are monitored and managed to ensure uninterrupted service. From there, we were escorted to the roof deck, where we had a bird’s-eye view of the impressive construction works for Vantage’s new building. Seeing the future of Malaysia’s data center industry literally being built before our eyes was both inspiring and humbling.

This visit was more than just a tour — it was a chance to understand firsthand the scale, complexity, and importance of data centers in today’s world. It reinforced the pivotal role Malaysia is playing in the global digital economy, and the opportunities this creates for businesses, professionals, and the security industry alike.

We left Cyberjaya with a deeper appreciation for the critical infrastructure that quietly keeps the digital world running and a renewed sense of pride in seeing Malaysia’s position grow on the international stage.
