Securing Finance: Insights and Strategies from ASIS Malaysia and OSAC Malaysia Joint Chapter Meeting


The joint chapter meeting between ASIS International Malaysia Chapter and Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC) Malaysia held at the Swift Kuala Lumpur office on April 18th was a resounding success, bringing together professionals from diverse backgrounds to discuss pressing issues in the realm of security and finance. The event was graced by the presence of Nick Masonis, the Regional Security Officer (RSO) for Kuala Lumpur, along with his team, adding valuable insights and perspectives to the discussions.


Kicking off the event with a networking lunch set a congenial tone, allowing attendees to forge new connections and catch up with familiar faces. Victor Lim, Chairman of ASIS International Malaysia Chapter and OSAC Malaysia Country Chapter Private Sector Co-Chair, extended a warm welcome to all participants, setting the stage for an engaging and informative session.


Ryan Chin, the Director, Global Corporate Security Asia Pacific for Swift, took the floor next, offering a comprehensive introduction to Swift, the world's leading financial messaging service. His presentation shed light on Swift's pivotal role in facilitating global financial transactions, underscoring its significance in the modern economy.




Subsequently, Dr. Prakash Christiansen from Vulsan X captivated the audience with his insights into Asia's scam crisis, presenting real-life scenarios and detailing how his team effectively navigated through challenging situations to mitigate risks and protect stakeholders. The practical examples provided a compelling glimpse into the complexities of combating financial fraud.


A refreshing tea break provided by the hosts offered attendees a well-deserved opportunity to rejuvenate and engage in further networking. The interlude facilitated fruitful exchanges of ideas and experiences, enriching the collaborative spirit of the gathering.



The final presenter of the day, representing the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation, delved into the intricate realm of financial and cryptocurrency crimes. While the details of the presentation remain confidential due to the sensitive nature of the subject matter, attendees were left with a profound appreciation for the evolving landscape of financial security and the importance of robust risk management strategies.
