Last Wednesday, 10th January 2024 marked a pivotal moment for the ASIS International Malaysia Chapter as we convened our highly anticipated Annual General Meeting (AGM) for the year 2023. Both physically and virtually, a total of 23 dedicated members joined us to share insights, experiences, and hear our plans for the future.
The evening commenced with a dynamic start as two esteemed members from our committee, Perumal and Hafiz, took the stage to share their expertise. Perumal delved into the critical realm of food defense, shedding light on the importance of safeguarding our food supply chains. Following this, Hafiz shared valuable insights into ASIS certifications, underlining their significance in advancing the professional development of our members.
At precisely 4:30 pm, with a sufficient quorum present, Chairman Victor Lim graced the occasion with his opening remarks. He extended heartfelt gratitude to all attendees for their unwavering support throughout the year and commended the committee for their dedicated efforts. Special thanks were also extended to Joey for graciously hosting the event in her beautiful new office. Victor also took a moment to provide a comprehensive summary of the past year, highlighting key achievements and expressing appreciation for the collective hard work of the committee. Looking ahead, he offered a glimpse into the exciting plans lined up for 2024.
The management committee, in turn, presented a detailed report on the accomplishments of the previous year, including the successful organization of the TSX conference, various field visits and training sessions. While there were no elections this year, two proposed changes in the constitution were tabled and unanimously passed by all members, signaling a positive step towards supporting the chapter's growth. These changes aim to encourage more professionals to join our ranks, fostering a stronger and more vibrant community.
Following the business aspects of the AGM, attendees were treated to a delightful meal, providing an informal setting for the committee to delve deeper into the plans for the upcoming year. Among the exciting prospects discussed were an increase in field visits and the potential organization of a conference, promising enriching opportunities for members to expand their knowledge and networks.
A heartfelt thank you to all attendees, whether physically present or joining us virtually, for contributing to the success of this AGM. Here's to a year filled with growth, collaboration, and continued excellence in the field of security management!
